What is Thermowood?

Thermowood stands out as the material of choice for the Camilla Sauna, thanks to its exceptional qualities. This thermally treated pine wood undergoes a specialised thermal modification process, significantly reducing its moisture content.
Less Warping
Through the process of gradually heating and cooling the timber, all resins, sugars, and impurities are extracted. Closing the cell structure results in a moisture content of only 7%, making the timber incredibly stable, durable, and free from impurities that may attract insects. This meticulous method ensures a high-quality sauna that will provide a comfortable and refreshing experience.
Increased Durability
This not only enhances its resistance to warping, shrinking, and rot but also ensures superior durability. With low thermal conductivity, Thermowood offers a gentle, slow heat-up, promising a more enjoyable and comfortable sauna experience.
Improved Insulation
As a result the insulation properties are improved keeping the heat inside and the noise from outside, out, ensuring a relaxing sauna experience.
FAQ - Camilla Mini
If you have more questions please call us or let us know in the chat, we will then add these questions here.
Q. Can I assemble the sauna myself?
While it's technically possible to assemble the sauna yourself, we strongly recommend having a qualified carpenter or joiner assist you—especially if you don't have prior experience with carpentry or working with wood.
The assembly manual is detailed and user-friendly for those familiar with construction, but without that background, the process can be challenging and time-consuming. Most of our customers choose professional installation for peace of mind and to ensure everything is assembled correctly.
Please note: improper assembly or failure to follow the manual may void the warranty, so if in doubt, we recommend seeking professional help.
Q. How much does it cost to get it assembled by the Heracles Team?
Assembly for this model starts at £1,000 + VAT, with the final cost depending on your location—prices increase the further we travel from London. A team of 3 carpenters will build it for you in one full day. To get an accurate quote, just send us your postcode and we’ll confirm the exact cost.
Installation is invoiced separately and typically arranged closer to your delivery date. While it’s possible to hire a local carpenter for assembly, please note that our team has extensive experience building this exact model, ensuring everything is done efficiently and correctly.
Q. How long does it take to get hot?
Typically, it takes around 20 minutes to reach 80°C. However, this can vary depending on factors such as the outside temperature, wind conditions, ventilation settings, and the intensity level you choose. Most customers report their sauna reaches the desired temperature within 20-30 minutes.
Q. How many people does this hold?
For optimal comfort, we suggest a capacity of 1-2 person for our Camilla Mini.
Q. What base do I need?
When planning the base for your Camilla Mini, there are two key requirements to keep in mind.
First, the base must be completely level, and secondly, it must be able to support the weight of the sauna and the maximum number of users. The sauna itself weighs 500kg's, so be sure to account for an additional 200kg's for users when choosing your base material. This can include concrete, patio decking, tiles, asphalt, and more, as long as it is flat and sturdy enough to hold up to 1,000kg's.
To avoid any potential issues, it is recommended to avoid placing the base on a slope or an area prone to water pooling.
Q. What maintenance is required after I assemble my sauna?
You should treat your sauna inside and out as soon as possible after assembly. This is required to protect the wood and to validate your warranty. It is personal preference as to whether you decide to paint the sauna bench, but we recommend that you do. We recommend a breathable oil based treatment such as Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish. Just click the image below to order it from B&Q.
Q. Can the sauna be painted a different colour?
Yes, you can paint it any colour you like as long as it is a breathable treatment.
Q. Why is there no insulation in this sauna?
Most simply put, it's not necessary. This is a compact sauna, the thermowood has excellent insulation properties and the sauna is designed to minimise heat loss.
Q. How long will it take to assemble my Camilla Mini if I opt for the flat pack?
If you are handy with tools and have someone helping you, it could be done in a couple of days. However, most do it in a week or so. Our install team will do it in one day.
Q. Do I need a 3 phase supply?
No, however, you must get a qualified electrician to connect your heater to your power supply. You will need an isolator as a minimum.
Q. Do we have a showroom?
Not yet, however, we have a referral scheme where existing customers can let you view their sauna. If you let us know where you are based, we can see if there's an already installed sauna near you.
These saunas are delivered from our warehouse in Essex. Delivery is free throughout the UK Mainland.
Delivery times are between 3 to 5 working days.
Our saunas are delivered on a pallet as standard and include comprehensive installation instructions. You can view these instructions here.
Unloading and Positioning
Our kit range of saunas are unloaded with a tail lift truck, our delivery team will unload it with a pump truck trolley and leave the pallet on your drive if there is space. If you have a gravel drive, we advise that you put some boards down to create a smooth surface for the trolley to run on.
Installation
We strongly recommend that a qualified carpenter assembles the sauna for you. Alternatively, we have our own installation team that can assemble on site for you in one working day. This is usually a team of 3 qualified carpenters. If you would like a quote for our installers to build it for you, please contact us.

Returns and Refunds Policy for Made-to-Order Saunas
At Heracles Wellness, we take pride in offering high-quality, made-to-order saunas tailored to your unique needs. Due to the bespoke nature of these products, our returns and refund policy is designed to reflect the custom craftsmanship involved.
Why Returns Are Limited for Made-to-Order Saunas
Made-to-order saunas are personalised and manufactured based on specific customer requirements. As such, these items cannot be resold or restocked, which is why we are unable to accept returns or offer refunds once fabrication has begun.
We encourage you to carefully review all details of your order before confirming, including dimensions, features, and finishes.
Our Policy in Detail
• Customisation Acknowledgement: By placing an order for a made-to-order sauna, you acknowledge that this is a bespoke product tailored to your specifications.
• Non-Returnable Items: Once production has started, cancellations, returns, or refunds are not permitted unless the product is defective or damaged upon arrival.
• Damaged or Faulty Products:
• If your sauna arrives with damage or a manufacturing defect, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.
• We will assess the issue and may offer a repair, replacement, or refund, depending on the situation.
• Order Review: We strongly recommend double-checking all measurements and customisations to avoid errors.
• Right to Cancel (Prior to Fabrication): You may cancel your order before fabrication begins, subject to an administration fee.
Relevant Consumer Laws
Our policy aligns with your rights under UK consumer protection laws, including:
• Consumer Rights Act 2015: This law ensures products must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If your sauna does not meet these standards, we will take appropriate action to resolve the issue.
• Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation, and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013:
• Bespoke and made-to-order products are exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation period for online sales.
• However, your rights remain protected if the product is faulty or does not match the agreed-upon specifications.
How to Contact Us
If you have concerns about your order, please contact us at info@heracleswellness.co.uk. We’re happy to assist and ensure your satisfaction with our products.
The electrical supply required will depend on the kW rating of your chosen sauna heater. We strongly recommend consulting with a qualified electrician prior to any installation.
Typically, a dedicated supply is required—similar to those used for electric showers or cookers. Most domestic sauna heaters in the UK are connected to a single-phase 230V supply, and the Amps can be calculated using:
Watts ÷ Volts = Amps
For example: a 6kW (6000W) heater ÷ 230V = approximately 26 Amps
Below is a general guide for domestic sauna heaters:
Heater Power - Current Draw - Suggested Cable Size (Single-Phase)
2.3 kW - 10 Amps - 1.5 mm²
3.0 kW - 13 Amps - 2.5 mm²
3.6 kW - 15 Amps - 2.5 mm²
4.5 kW - 19 Amps - 2.5–4.0 mm²
6.0 kW - 26 Amps - 4.0 mm²
8.0 kW - 35 Amps - 6.0 mm²
9.0 kW - 40 Amps - 6.0 mm² (or higher, depending on cable run)
Cable size depends on cable length, installation method, and other on-site factors. Always defer to your electrician’s judgment.
We strongly advise that installation is carried out by a fully qualified electrician, and that all work complies with current Government regulations and wiring standards (e.g., BS 7671 in the UK).
Sauna Heater Manuals
For exact electrical requirements of each heater please refer to the installation manuals below. If you provide these to your electrician, they should be able to advise you of the necessary wiring.
