Electrical Supply - IMPORTANT - Please Read Before Ordering

Electrical Installation – Important Information

If you hire our installation team to build your sauna, please note that internal electrical wiring is not included and must be completed by a certified electrician.

Our installation team will:

  • Mount the sauna heater to the wall (where applicable)
  • Attach the LED light strips to the benches

However, the following must be completed by a qualified electrician:

  • Final wiring and connection of the heater
  • Final wiring of the LED lighting
  • Installation and wiring of external control panels, door sensor, thermostat, and any other electrical components (not applicable for manually controlled heaters such as the Harvia Vega BC60).

Electrical Supply Requirements

A sauna heater typically requires a dedicated electrical supply, similar to those used for electric showers or cookers.

Most domestic sauna heaters in the UK operate on a single-phase 230V supply. The current draw can be calculated using the following formula:

Watts ÷ Volts = Amps

Example:

6kW (6000W) ÷ 230V = approximately 26 Amps

Below is a general guide for domestic sauna heaters:

Heater Power - Current Draw - Suggested Cable Size (Single-Phase)

2.3 kW - 10 Amps - 1.5 mm²

3.0 kW - 13 Amps - 2.5 mm²

3.6 kW - 15 Amps - 2.5 mm²

4.5 kW - 19 Amps - 2.5–4.0 mm²

6.0 kW - 26 Amps - 4.0 mm²

8.0 kW - 35 Amps - 6.0 mm²

9.0 kW - model-specific. For the Harvia Cilindro PC90XE, Harvia specifies 1 x 50A with 3 x 10mm² cable on 230V 1N~, or 3 x 16A with 5 x 2.5mm² cable on 400V 3N~.
Cable size depends on cable length, installation method, and other on-site factors. Always defer to your electrician’s judgment.

We strongly advise that installation is carried out by a fully qualified electrician, and that all work complies with current Government regulations and wiring standards (e.g., BS 7671 in the UK).

Sauna Heater Manuals

For exact electrical requirements of each heater please refer to the installation manuals below. If you provide these to your electrician, they should be able to advise you of the necessary wiring.

Delivery & Installation

Delivery pricing and regions

Delivery is included in the product price for eligible sauna orders to mainland England and Wales, excluding the Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly.

Mainland Scotland delivery supplements of £399 or £749 including VAT apply by postcode and are shown at checkout.

Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scottish islands, BFPO, Europe and every other international or offshore destination require an individual quotation before ordering.

Eligible Scottish customers can select free collection from our private Widnes warehouse. Collection is by appointment and may be made personally or by a nominated carrier.

Our saunas are delivered on a pallet as standard and include comprehensive installation instructions. You can view these instructions here.

Should you prefer your sauna to be delivered fully assembled, this service is available for an additional fee by selecting the checkbox above.

Unloading and Positioning

We unload flat-pack saunas for you, and this is included in the delivery price. Depending on access we use a tail-lift, forklift or HIAB, or unpack the sauna by hand on the truck. Once you've ordered, we'll ask for a few photos of the access and confirm how it will be unloaded.

Fully Assembled Deliveries

Fully assembled saunas need a forklift or crane to lift them from the truck into place, depending on access.

You arrange this yourself with a local crane or forklift company; we don't quote for or organise it. The sauna is not insured during unloading, so whoever lifts it needs to know exactly what they're doing. We can give you the assembled size and weight for the crane company. In our experience, a flat pack built on site is usually easier, quicker and less stressful, with no crane to pay for and far less risk of damage.

Warranty

At Heracles Wellness, we are confident in the quality of the products we offer. Therefore, we provide a 2-year guarantee on these saunas when installed by a professional or an approved installer. If the buyer chooses to self-assemble the sauna, the warranty period is limited to 1 year.

To ensure longevity and maintain the factory warranty, please follow these instructions:

  • If you have a self-assembled wooden product, you must finish it both inside and out with an appropriate breathable wood oil to validate the warranty.
  • If any parts are missing or defective during assembly and inspection, promptly take pictures and contact us at info@heracleswellness.co.uk. Buyers must report any missing components within 24 hours of receiving the product. Claims made after this period regarding missing items will not be accepted under warranty. However, we can still supply replacement parts after this timeframe, but these will be chargeable.
  • The sauna must be installed on a pre-prepared foundation that is level to ensure proper functioning of doors and windows.

Warranty Terms:

  • The warranty is valid for 2 years from the product handover for professionally installed saunas, or 1 year for self-assembled saunas, contingent on following the manual and finishing guidelines.
  • Repair or replacement of components does not extend the warranty.
  • Report missing or defective components immediately with pictures and explanations to info@heracleswellness.co.uk. Missing components must be reported within 24 hours of delivery to qualify for free replacement. Requests made after this period will incur a charge for replacement parts.
  • We may investigate and involve experts if necessary.
  • The warranty covers construction and component defects, and absence of components.

Warranty Exclusions:

  • Self-Assembly Errors: Damages caused by incorrect self-assembly or failure to follow the assembly instructions are not covered.
  • Storage: The warranty does not apply if the product has been stored flatpack outdoors and exposed to weather conditions.
  • Transport: Damages during transport must be reported to the transport company.
  • Installation: If assembly instructions are not followed, or if the foundation is not level.
  • Finish: If the wooden product is not finished inside and outside immediately after assembly.
  • Wood characteristics: Natural wood characteristics, including expansion, contraction, tone differences, knots, resin pockets, and minor cracks.
  • Other: Damage to glass components by the buyer, condensation on glass, and unforeseen circumstances (theft, vandalism, weather).

Warranty Invalidation:

  • Initial inspection: The warranty is void if the buyer does not check the product's quantity, presence, and quality promptly after receiving it and before assembly. Missing parts must be reported within 24 hours of delivery to qualify for warranty replacement. After this period, replacement parts can still be provided but will be subject to additional charges.
  • Installation: Installing faulty components that could have been identified earlier.
  • Information: Providing incorrect information or lacking proof of purchase.
Return and Refunds

Made to order. This product is built to your specification, so we cannot accept returns or cancellations for a change of mind once production has started. Your legal rights are not affected: if it is faulty, damaged or not as described, we will repair, replace or refund it, and it is covered by its warranty. Please check size, access, base and electrical requirements before ordering; we are happy to help. Full terms: Returns policy.

Maintenance

Camilla Traditional Outdoor Sauna 3-4 Person is designed for outdoor use, but it is not maintenance-free. A small amount of regular care will help protect the timber, keep the sauna clean, and prevent avoidable issues over time.

After each use

• Wipe down wet benches, backrests, floors and high-contact areas.

• Leave the door and vents open until the interior has dried properly.

• Do not leave wet towels or accessories inside the sauna.

Cleaning

• Clean periodically with warm water, a soft cloth or brush, and a mild sauna-safe cleaner.

• Avoid harsh household chemicals, bleach, ammonia, abrasive cleaners, or normal interior varnishes.

Benches and backrests

• Sit on towels during use to reduce sweat staining.

• If bench timber becomes dry or marked, it can be lightly cleaned, gently sanded if needed, and treated with a sauna-suitable bench protection product where appropriate.

Doors, hinges and timber movement

• Outdoor timber naturally expands and contracts with heat, humidity and weather.

• Minor door or hinge adjustments may occasionally be required. This is normal routine maintenance rather than a product fault.

Heater stones

• Inspect sauna stones regularly, especially with frequent use.

• Replace stones if they become cracked, crumbly, heavily discoloured, or start breaking down.

• Stack stones loosely enough to allow airflow around the heating elements. Only use proper sauna stones, not garden or beach stones.

Exterior, roof and exposed locations

• Check the exterior, roof, fixings, hinges, vents and drainage periodically, especially after storms or long wet periods.

• Coastal, shaded, very exposed, or high-rainfall locations may need more frequent maintenance.

• In coastal or sea-air locations, exposed metal parts such as hinges, fixings and brackets should be checked more often and given extra corrosion protection where appropriate, such as WD-40 or a suitable zinc-based protective spray.

• In windy or exposed locations, check that any parts vulnerable to wind lift or movement are properly secured. This can include roof shingles, trims, covers and lightweight external fittings. If needed, use additional suitable fixings, adhesive, or restraints in line with the manufacturer’s guidance.

Manuals

• Always follow the specific manual supplied with your sauna and heater. If the manual gives different maintenance instructions, the manufacturer’s manual should take priority.

Camilla timber treatment

Camilla saunas should be protected with suitable breathable wood treatments. If supplied fully assembled or pre-treated, they still require routine inspection and re-treatment over time.

Interior: use a sauna-suitable interior treatment such as Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish.

Exterior: use a breathable, UV-rated, water-resistant exterior wood treatment. A good example is Osmo UV Protection Oil, available from B&Q.

• Inspect and re-treat exposed timber at least every 12 months, or sooner if your location or manual requires it.

Choosing your heater

The Camilla has an internal volume of 5.5 m³. Heater sizing must also allow for glass and other uninsulated surfaces, so the best choice depends on the final build. For the standard wood-front Camilla, a 6 kW heater is the normal starting point. Larger heaters can shorten warm-up times or suit a glazing-adjusted volume, but your electrician must check the supply first. All heaters include stones.

Harvia Vega BC60 6 kW

Made for 5–8 m³ rooms: a cost-effective match for the Camilla, with simple built-in controls. Installation manual (PDF)

Harvia SW80 8 kW

A stronger wall-mounted heater for quicker heat-up, though it may be more power than you need. Installation manual (PDF)

Harvia Cilindro PC90 9 kW

A floor-standing rock-tower heater rated for 8–14 m³: larger than the standard wood-front Camilla needs, so a faster-heating upgrade, and it can make sense where extra glass raises the calculated volume. Also offered with WiFi control, so you can switch it on from your phone. Installation manual (PDF)

Harvia Spirit SP60 6 kW, WiFi

A compact wall-mounted heater with MyHarvia WiFi control, with the Xenio or the Fenix control panel. Installation manual (PDF)

Harvia Spirit SP90 9 kW, WiFi

The 9 kW Spirit with a Xenio WiFi panel, rated for 8–14 m³: choose it where the glazing-adjusted volume or the warm-up time you want justifies 9 kW. Installation manual (PDF)

HUUM Drop 6 kW, WiFi

A drop-shaped wall-mounted heater with a 55 kg stone capacity for long-lasting heat and steam, for 5–10 m³ rooms, controlled from the HUUM UKU WiFi app. Installation manual (PDF)

Built to last

Thermowood, hand crafted in Estonia

Thermowood shell

Thermally treated pine, hand crafted in Estonia. It is stable, durable and free of the resins and sugars that attract insects.

42 mm and 28 mm walls

Thick 42 mm staves form the floor, sides and roof; the front and back walls are 28 mm.

Full-length glass door

Tempered glass lets daylight in and makes the sauna a feature of the garden.

Alder benches

Alder stays cool to the touch, even when the air is hot.

Katepal black roof

Durable bitumen shingles protect the timber from rain and UV all year.

Steel bands

Two steel bands with tensioners clamp the staves round the end walls.

Material

What is Thermowood?

Thermally treated pine. The timber is heated and cooled slowly, which takes out the resins, sugars and impurities and closes the cell structure, leaving a moisture content of only about 7%.

Thermowood boards in the factory
  • Less warping

Very stable timber that resists warping, shrinking and rot.

  • Lasts longer

Nothing left in the wood to attract insects, so it stays durable outdoors.

  • Gentle heat

Low thermal conductivity gives a gentle, slow heat-up and a comfortable sauna.

  • Better insulation

Keeps the heat in and outside noise out. No extra insulation layer is needed inside.

Looking after it

Easy care, once a year

Wipe the benches after each session and leave the door and vents open until the inside is dry. Re-treat the timber at least every 12 months: a breathable sauna finish inside and a UV-rated, water-resistant treatment outside. Coastal or very exposed sites may need it more often, and check the metal fixings, hinges and roof shingles now and then. A self-assembled sauna must be finished inside and out with a breathable wood oil straight after assembly to keep the warranty.

The sauna itself is 2.05 m wide, 1.60 m deep and 2.10 m high. Leave a gap around it so you can look after it:

  • Behind and each side: about 50 cmEnough to stand in, so you can re-coat the outside (we suggest once a year), reach the isolator and control box, and adjust the steel hoops as the wood moves with the seasons.
  • Against a wall or fence? That's fine. You just won't be able to paint that side, and it will be sheltered from the weather anyway. Ask your electrician to put the isolator on a side you can reach.
  • In front: about 90 cmThe glass door opens outward, and you want a clear, safe step in and out.
  • BaseLevel, and strong enough for the sauna, the heater and stones, and up to 320 kg of people. See “What base do I need?” in the FAQs.

Camilla Traditional Outdoor Sauna 3-4 Person - FAQ's

When will I receive my order?

The estimated delivery window is currently ….

This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date. The timing can vary depending on production schedules, dispatch arrangements or other unforeseen delays. If you need the product by a particular date, please call us before placing your order so we can check the current schedule with you.

Can I see one before I buy?

Yes. Through our Sauna Viewing Network, Heracles customers show their saunas to people who live nearby. Enter your postcode and the model you're interested in, and you can message an owner privately through our app. Your details are only shared if you choose.

If nobody near you has this exact model, the app suggests similar models in the same range.

Find a sauna near you

Does this sauna include a heater?

No. The price shown is for the sauna without a heater. Choose your heater in "Design your sauna" on this page; the price updates as you choose.

Final wiring must be completed by a qualified electrician; electrical connection is not included with sauna assembly.

Can I assemble the sauna myself?

While it's technically possible to assemble the sauna yourself, we strongly recommend having a qualified carpenter or joiner assist you—especially if you don't have prior experience with carpentry or working with wood.

The assembly manual is detailed and user-friendly for those familiar with construction, but without that background, the process can be challenging and time-consuming. Most of our customers choose professional installation for peace of mind and to ensure everything is assembled correctly.

Please note: improper assembly or failure to follow the manual may void the warranty, so if in doubt, we recommend seeking professional help.

How much does it cost to get it assembled by the Heracles team?

Assembly for this model starts at £1,000 + VAT. The final cost depends on your location, as prices increase the further our team travels from London. A team of three carpenters will usually build it in one full day.

Use the Request an Installation Quote link under Add to Cart and complete the form with your postcode, access and site details. We will confirm the exact installation price from that information. Installation is invoiced separately and typically arranged closer to the delivery date. You can use a local carpenter, but our team has extensive experience assembling this model.

How many people does the Camilla sauna seat?

The Camilla seats three people in comfort or four at classic sauna closeness.

Its L-shaped benches also allow one person to lie down while leaving limited seated space on the return bench. The exact fit depends on each user's height and preferred personal space.

What base do I need?

The sauna should be installed on a solid, level, well-drained base, such as a concrete pad, slabbed patio or structurally suitable deck. The key requirement is that the base remains completely flat and stable under the full load.

For the Camilla 3–4 Person, allow for the 600 kg sauna plus 400 kg for up to four users, based on 100 kg per person. The base must therefore support a combined load of at least 1,000 kg (1 tonne), spread across the full ground-contact frame. Give this figure to the person building the base so they can select the right construction and safety margin for your site.

Avoid slopes and areas where water can collect around the sauna. For added protection, we recommend fitting continuous bitumen strips or a suitable waterproof membrane between the prepared base and the timber base frame, as shown below. These are the strips we recommend. If you buy them in advance, our installation team can fit them to the underside of the sauna base. Any equivalent alternative is also suitable; the material does not need to be load-bearing and is used purely as a waterproof membrane. This prevents the timber from sitting directly on a damp surface and reduces moisture reaching the base.

Waterproof membrane applied to an outdoor sauna base frame before assembly
Example: waterproof membrane applied around the timber base frame before the sauna is installed.
Why is there no insulation in this sauna?

Most simply put, it's not necessary. This is a compact sauna, the thermowood has excellent insulation properties and the sauna is designed to minimise heat loss.

What is the benefit of buying the sauna fully assembled?

If you have sufficient access we always recommend buying the sauna already assembled. This way it will be assembled by experts and will already be pre-treated. All you would need to do is get your electrician to connect it to you power supply and you could be using your sauna from day one.

Can the Harvia Cilindro PC90XE run on single-phase power?

Yes. The Harvia Cilindro PC90XE can be connected to either 230V single-phase or 400V three-phase power.

Harvia specifies 1 x 50A with 3 x 10mm² cable for 230V 1N~, or 3 x 16A with 5 x 2.5mm² cable for 400V 3N~. The heater requires a dedicated supply. Your electrician must confirm the final cable size, protective devices and installation method for your property.

The separate Xenio control panel is included. Wi-Fi and MyHarvia control require a separate Wi-Fi kit; they are not included with the PC90XE.

Where are the ventilation openings on the Camilla sauna?

The installation drawing shows a low-level air inlet in the front wall, to the right of the door, and a high-level outlet in the rear wall near the roofline.

Keep both vents clear. The installer should also follow the ventilation instructions supplied with the chosen heater.

How is a fully assembled Camilla unloaded and positioned?

A fully assembled Camilla weighs about 600kg and has no published certified lifting points. Where access permits, a suitable forklift or crane can position it in one piece, but the lifting contractor must assess the site and plan the lift.

Standard delivery does not include crane or forklift unloading or final positioning. If suitable lifting access is not available, choose the flat-pack version so the sauna can be unloaded and carried in components.

How is the Camilla roof constructed and maintained?

The Camilla's curved Thermowood shell is covered with waterproof roofing layers and Katepal bitumen shingles.

The manufacturer does not publish a fixed roof lifespan because exposure, installation and maintenance all affect it. Inspect the shingles, edges and fixings at least once a year and after severe weather, and repair any loose or damaged areas promptly. Coastal and highly exposed sites may need more frequent checks.

Can I see one of your saunas in person before ordering?

We do not currently have a full showroom, but many of our existing customers are happy to show their sauna to prospective buyers.

If you would like to see one in person, please contact us and we can try to arrange a viewing with a customer in or near your area.

Does installation include the electrical connection?

No. Our installation team can assemble the sauna, but the heater and any other electrical components must still be connected by a qualified electrician.

You will need a suitable electrical supply and, at minimum, an isolator switch. Full details are provided in the Electrical Supply section on the product page.

Can any qualified electrician connect the sauna, and do you provide guidance?

Yes. Any qualified electrician should be able to connect the sauna, provided they follow the electrical requirements listed in the Electrical Supply section of the product page.

After you place your order, we also send further information that you can pass on to your electrician.

Can you recommend an electrician for the final connection?

In some cases, we may be able to share details of electricians who have connected saunas for previous customers.

Availability will depend on your location, and you are also welcome to use your own qualified electrician.

Is the Heracles installation team experienced with this model?

Yes. Our installation team uses specialist carpenters and installers who are experienced in assembling outdoor saunas, which is one of the reasons many customers prefer professional installation.

Do you carry out site visits before installation?

No. We do not carry out site visits.

To request an installation quote, use the Request an Installation Quote link under Add to Cart and complete the form with photos, measurements, site plans, access details and the proposed sauna location. Our installation team will use that information to assess access, base preparation and positioning, and flag any obvious issues before installation.

Why has my sauna door gone out of alignment over time?

In outdoor saunas, it is normal for the timber structure to respond to changes in temperature, humidity, and ambient conditions over time. This can occasionally cause minor movement in the door opening, which may affect how the door closes or sits within the frame.

For this reason, sauna door hinges are designed to be adjustable. Minor door or hinge alignment adjustments over time are normal and should be carried out in line with the manual as part of routine ownership maintenance, rather than being treated as a product fault.

Why is the non-kit Camilla more expensive than the kit version?

The non-kit Camilla is more expensive because it is a made-to-order sauna rather than a pre-packaged stock kit.

The kit version is imported in bulk with a simpler standard heater package, which keeps the cost lower. By contrast, the non-kit version is produced to order, can be specified with upgraded heater options and other bespoke choices, and is shipped individually rather than as part of a bulk stock order.

In practical terms, the biggest price differences usually come from the upgraded heater and controls, the more bespoke nature of the order, and the higher logistics costs involved in bringing in an individually made sauna.

Do outdoor saunas need regular maintenance?

Yes. Outdoor saunas are not maintenance-free.

As a minimum, owners should expect to inspect and re-treat exposed timber at least every 12 months, or sooner if the manufacturer manual and local conditions require it.

You should also expect to make minor door or hinge adjustments over time in line with the manual, as timber structures naturally move slightly with changes in temperature and humidity.

In coastal or sea-air environments, exposed metal parts should be checked more regularly and protected with a rust-proof treatment such as WD-40 or another suitable anti-corrosion product.

Sauna heaters also require maintenance in line with the manufacturer manual. This normally includes periodically checking, washing, and restacking the stones, and in the longer term electric heater elements may need replacing if they wear out.

We do not currently offer a formal maintenance programme.

What is the height of the top bench and the distance to the roof?

The top bench is 815mm from the floor, and the distance from the top bench to the roof is 1100mm.

What paint or treatment should I use on my outdoor sauna?

If your sauna has exposed or untreated exterior timber, use a breathable, UV-resistant and water-resistant exterior wood treatment. We recommend Tikkurila Valtti Plus Kesto or Tikkurila Valtti Plus Color. If you prefer a clear, natural finish, Osmo UV Protection Oil is a good option.

Apply the treatment after assembly and before regular use, then inspect the timber annually and re-treat it as required for the product and your site’s exposure.

For sauna-room walls, window frames and door frames, use Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish or Tikkurila Supi Sauna Wax. For benches and backrests, use Tikkurila Supi Laudesuoja Bench Protection. Never use ordinary exterior paint, varnish or household wood treatments inside the heated sauna room.

If your sauna has factory-finished or specialist cladding, follow the supplied manual and do not overcoat it unless the manufacturer confirms the product is suitable.

These recommendations are general guidance. Check both the sauna manufacturer’s manual and the treatment manufacturer’s instructions, and satisfy yourself that the product is suitable for the timber and any existing finish before applying it. If you are unsure about a colour, request samples from the manufacturer or retailer and test one on a spare timber offcut or a small, inconspicuous area first.

How much treatment should I buy for the Camilla?

Buy one 2.7-litre tin (2.7 litres total) of Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish for the sauna-room walls and ceiling, and one 1-litre tin (1 litre total) of Tikkurila Supi Laudesuoja for the benches and backrests. For untreated exterior timber, buy either one 2.7-litre tin and two 0.9-litre tins (4.5 litres total) of Tikkurila Valtti Plus Kesto or three 0.75-litre tins (2.25 litres total) of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra for the specified two-coat systems.

The buying calculation uses 14.9 m² interior requiring 2.14 litres, and 4.89 m² of bench timber requiring 0.7 litres, with 13.32 m² outside requiring 3.83 litres of Valtti or 1.7 litres of Osmo. It uses the lower published coverage rate and one coat inside, two coats on untreated exterior timber, with a 15% allowance. Glass, roof shingles or membranes, the underside and confirmed factory-painted trim are excluded.

These are conservative buying allowances. Follow the current label and technical sheet for the product you choose; if its coverage or coat count differs, use those figures instead.

Can this sauna be used commercially?

Yes. Our traditional saunas are suitable for commercial use, and we already supply many commercial customers.

Commercial use requires a regular maintenance regime, as it would with any sauna. This includes cleaning the sauna, inspecting and maintaining the heater stones, and re-treating or painting the timber when required. The frequency will depend on usage, location and the manufacturer's maintenance instructions.
