Standard Insulation: These hot tubs include water-resistant polyurethane foam on the acrylic shell to keep the heat in. Additionally, the side panels and base serve as barriers against external elements.

Enhanced Insulation: For greater energy efficiency, this option adds standard insulation of the shell and cabinet, plus a reflective foil layer on the skirting panels and base to further contain the heat.

Triplex Insulation: Building on the enhanced insulation, this premium option adds thick foam within the panel cavities, underneath the reflective foil. This comprehensive approach not only protects against the elements but also maximizes heat retention in the water and base.

Each hot tub’s insulation details are specified in its product description. Generally, the more insulation a hot tub has, the lower its operational costs will be, relative to other models of similar size and usage.

Questions often arise about why the interiors of these hot tubs are not fully filled with foam. Although full foam insulation could minimise heat loss, it would complicate any future repairs. Issues as minor as a leak in a jet or pipe joint could lead to significant maintenance challenges. No. Orca Leisure provides 13amp hot tubs that can be powered using a standard outdoor RCD plug socket, simplifying electrical setup. An RCD— a safety device that cuts off the electricity supply—is necessary either in the outdoor socket for 13amp tubs or 32amp hot tubs but is not included with the hot tub itself.

You will need to supply a 2.5mm armoured cable, which should be long enough to extend from the socket to the hot tub plus an extra meter, with a plug on one end.

It's essential to check the hot tub water daily using testing strips and adjust the chemical balance by adding small quantities of chemicals. After adding chemicals, run the jets for 5 minutes to mix the water thoroughly, then retest until the strip's color matches the one indicated on the bottle.

To maintain clear and clean water, shower before entering the hot tub to remove any beauty products, lotions, or oils, which can cloud the water. Additionally, avoid using fake tan products before entering the hot tub, as these can stain the shell.

The water needs changing every 3 – 4 months of normal hot tub use, if the water is being appropriately treated with the right chemicals. When you refill your hot tub, ensure you use a non-chlorine shock after the sanitiser, alkalinity and pH are balanced to oxidise the water and keep it clear.

The filter should be cleaned every two weeks with a hosepipe and filter spray. To extend the lifespan on the filter, let it fully dry before using in the hot tub. It’s a good idea to swap between two filters so you can enjoy your hot tub sooner.
