Electrical Supply - IMPORTANT - Please Read Before Ordering

Electrical Installation – Important Information

If you hire our installation team to build your sauna, please note that internal electrical wiring is not included and must be completed by a certified electrician.

Our installation team will:

  • Mount the sauna heater to the wall (where applicable)
  • Attach the LED light strips to the benches

However, the following must be completed by a qualified electrician:

  • Final wiring and connection of the heater
  • Final wiring of the LED lighting
  • Installation and wiring of external control panels, door sensor, thermostat, and any other electrical components (not applicable for manually controlled heaters such as the Harvia Vega BC60).

Electrical Supply Requirements

A sauna heater typically requires a dedicated electrical supply, similar to those used for electric showers or cookers.

Most domestic sauna heaters in the UK operate on a single-phase 230V supply. The current draw can be calculated using the following formula:

Watts ÷ Volts = Amps

Example:

6kW (6000W) ÷ 230V = approximately 26 Amps

Below is a general guide for domestic sauna heaters:

Heater Power - Current Draw - Suggested Cable Size (Single-Phase)

2.3 kW - 10 Amps - 1.5 mm²

3.0 kW - 13 Amps - 2.5 mm²

3.6 kW - 15 Amps - 2.5 mm²

4.5 kW - 19 Amps - 2.5–4.0 mm²

6.0 kW - 26 Amps - 4.0 mm²

8.0 kW - 35 Amps - 6.0 mm²

9.0 kW - 40 Amps - 6.0 mm² (or higher, depending on cable run)
Cable size depends on cable length, installation method, and other on-site factors. Always defer to your electrician’s judgment.

We strongly advise that installation is carried out by a fully qualified electrician, and that all work complies with current Government regulations and wiring standards (e.g., BS 7671 in the UK).

Sauna Heater Manuals

For exact electrical requirements of each heater please refer to the installation manuals below. If you provide these to your electrician, they should be able to advise you of the necessary wiring.

Delivery & Installation

Leil saunas are delivered on a pallet with comprehensive installation instructions, which can be viewed here.

Delivery Information

Delivery to your address is included in the price for all saunas. Because our saunas are large and heavy (typically around one tonne), the exact unloading process depends on whether you choose a flat pack kit or a fully assembled sauna.

Flat Pack / DIY Assemblies

Flat pack saunas are delivered on a pallet. We will unload the pallet onto your driveway using a forklift or HIAB truck, depending on site access. This service is included in the delivery price.

From there, the sauna components can be carried to the installation location and assembled.

Factory-Assembled Saunas

If you choose to have your sauna built in the factory and delivered fully assembled, delivery to your address is included, but unloading is not.

Fully assembled saunas are very heavy and typically require a forklift or crane to lift them from the truck and position them in place. You can arrange this locally, or we can organise it for you for an additional fee.

Please contact us if you would like us to arrange the unloading.

Warranty

At Heracles Wellness, we are confident in the quality of the Leil® products we offer. That’s why we provide a warranty on all Leil® products, with the warranty period depending on who carries out the installation:

Full warranty terms can be found in the user manuals, but the main points are below:

• The warranty covers material and manufacturing defects from the date of delivery.

• The warranty applies only where the product has been used and maintained in accordance with the relevant user manuals.

• Warranty periods may differ for products mounted on trailers and for commercial-use products.

• The warranty does not cover natural characteristics of wood, including discolouration, dimensional changes, or cracking caused by fluctuating or excessive humidity.

• The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or damage caused by improper installation, misuse, or incorrect storage.

Weather-related damage, including damage caused by thunder, is not covered.

• Damage resulting from incorrect installation by the client or their chosen installer is excluded from cover.

• The warranty will be void if unauthorised repairs or modifications are carried out, or if the product is used for anything other than its intended purpose.

• To make a warranty claim, any defect must be reported to the seller within 7 days of discovery.

Return and Refunds

Returns and Refunds Policy for Made-to-Order Saunas

At Heracles Wellness, we take pride in offering high-quality, made-to-order saunas tailored to your unique needs. Due to the bespoke nature of these products, our returns and refund policy is designed to reflect the custom craftsmanship involved.

Why Returns Are Limited for Made-to-Order Saunas

Made-to-order saunas are personalised and manufactured based on specific customer requirements. As such, these items cannot be resold or restocked, which is why we are unable to accept returns or offer refunds once fabrication has begun.

We encourage you to carefully review all details of your order before confirming, including dimensions, features, and finishes.

Our Policy in Detail

Customisation Acknowledgement: By placing an order for a made-to-order sauna, you acknowledge that this is a bespoke product tailored to your specifications.

Non-Returnable Items: Once production has started, cancellations, returns, or refunds are not permitted unless the product is defective or damaged upon arrival.

Damaged or Faulty Products:

• If your sauna arrives with damage or a manufacturing defect, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.

• We will assess the issue and may offer a repair, replacement, or refund, depending on the situation.

Order Review: We strongly recommend double-checking all measurements and customisations to avoid errors.

Right to Cancel (Prior to Fabrication): You may cancel your order before fabrication begins, subject to an administration fee.

Relevant Consumer Laws

Our policy aligns with your rights under UK consumer protection laws, including:

Consumer Rights Act 2015: This law ensures products must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If your sauna does not meet these standards, we will take appropriate action to resolve the issue.

Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation, and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013:

• Bespoke and made-to-order products are exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation period for online sales.

• However, your rights remain protected if the product is faulty or does not match the agreed-upon specifications.

How to Contact Us

If you have concerns about your order, please contact us at info@heracleswellness.co.uk. We’re happy to assist and ensure your satisfaction with our products.

Maintenance

Leil® Viva 120 1-2 Person Outdoor Sauna is designed for outdoor use, but it is not maintenance-free. A small amount of regular care will help protect the timber, keep the sauna clean, and prevent avoidable issues over time.

After each use

• Wipe down wet benches, backrests, floors and high-contact areas.

• Leave the door and vents open until the interior has dried properly.

• Do not leave wet towels or accessories inside the sauna.

Cleaning

• Clean periodically with warm water, a soft cloth or brush, and a mild sauna-safe cleaner.

• Avoid harsh household chemicals, bleach, ammonia, abrasive cleaners, or normal interior varnishes.

Benches and backrests

• Sit on towels during use to reduce sweat staining.

• If bench timber becomes dry or marked, it can be lightly cleaned, gently sanded if needed, and treated with a sauna-suitable bench protection product where appropriate.

Doors, hinges and timber movement

• Outdoor timber naturally expands and contracts with heat, humidity and weather.

• Minor door or hinge adjustments may occasionally be required. This is normal routine maintenance rather than a product fault.

Heater stones

• Inspect sauna stones regularly, especially with frequent use.

• Replace stones if they become cracked, crumbly, heavily discoloured, or start breaking down.

• Stack stones loosely enough to allow airflow around the heating elements. Only use proper sauna stones, not garden or beach stones.

Exterior, roof and exposed locations

• Check the exterior, roof, fixings, hinges, vents and drainage periodically, especially after storms or long wet periods.

• Coastal, shaded, very exposed, or high-rainfall locations may need more frequent maintenance.

• In coastal or sea-air locations, exposed metal parts such as hinges, fixings and brackets should be checked more often and given extra corrosion protection where appropriate, such as WD-40 or a suitable zinc-based protective spray.

• In windy or exposed locations, check that any parts vulnerable to wind lift or movement are properly secured. This can include roof shingles, trims, covers and lightweight external fittings. If needed, use additional suitable fixings, adhesive, or restraints in line with the manufacturer’s guidance.

Manuals

• Always follow the specific manual supplied with your sauna and heater. If the manual gives different maintenance instructions, the manufacturer’s manual should take priority.

Leil model-specific care

Follow the supplied Leil manual for model-specific timber treatment, roof care and heater guidance. If treatment or paint is supplied with the sauna, apply it exactly as instructed during installation.

• Inspect exterior timber and exposed finishes at least annually, or more often in coastal, shaded, or very exposed locations.

Leil® Viva 120 1-2 Person Outdoor Sauna - FAQ's

What's the difference between flat pack and fully assembled delivery?

Flat pack delivery arrives on a large pallet at your driveway, requiring you to arrange assembly yourself or hire our installation team separately. Fully assembled delivery (+£1,200) includes a fork lift or crane to unload the sauna and place it in position – though professional installation services would still be quoted separately depending on your location and site complexity.

Do I need planning permission for the Viva 120?

In most UK properties, a sauna of this size falls under permitted development and doesn't require planning permission. However, regulations vary for listed buildings, conservation areas, or if you're extending existing structures. We recommend checking with your local planning authority to confirm your specific circumstances.

What electrical requirements does the Viva 120 have?

The optional HUUM DROP 4.5kW heater requires a dedicated electrical supply installed by a qualified electrician. It needs a 32A circuit breaker and appropriate cabling to meet UK electrical regulations (BS 7671). We can provide detailed electrical specifications and recommend certified electricians in your area.

How long does installation take?

Professional installation typically takes 1-2 days depending on site access and preparation. This includes positioning the sauna, connecting electrical systems (if applicable), and final testing. DIY flat pack assembly can take longer depending on experience level. We provide comprehensive assembly instructions with all flat pack deliveries.

What base or foundation does the sauna need?

The Viva 120 requires a solid, level base capable of supporting 400kg. Options include a concrete pad, paving slabs, or a reinforced timber deck. The base should be slightly larger than the sauna footprint (at least 1.3m × 1.4m) and provide adequate drainage. We can advise on the best foundation solution for your site during the quotation process.

How quickly does the sauna heat up?

With the HUUM DROP 4.5kW heater, the Viva 120 typically reaches optimal sauna temperature (70-80°C) in 30-45 minutes. The compact 2.7m³ volume means faster heating compared to larger models. Using WiFi control, you can preheat your sauna remotely so it's ready when you arrive home.

What maintenance does the sauna require?

Outdoor saunas are not maintenance-free. As a minimum, owners should be prepared to inspect and re-treat exposed timber at least every 12 months, or sooner if the manufacturer manual and local conditions require it.

You should also expect normal upkeep such as keeping the sauna clean and ventilated between uses, and making minor door or hinge adjustments over time in line with the manual.

In coastal or sea-air environments, exposed metal parts should be checked more regularly and protected with a rust-proof treatment such as WD-40 or another suitable anti-corrosion product.

Sauna heaters also require maintenance in line with the manufacturer manual. This normally includes periodically checking, washing, and restacking the stones, and in the longer term electric heater elements may need replacing if they wear out.

We do not currently operate a formal maintenance programme, but if you would like help, please contact us and we can quote for an annual service of your sauna.

Can I use the sauna in winter?

Absolutely! The Viva 120 is designed for year-round outdoor use. The insulated construction maintains heat efficiently even in cold weather, and the weather-resistant exterior timber is built to withstand British weather conditions. Many users find winter sauna sessions particularly invigorating.

What warranty is included?

All Leil saunas come with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering structural defects and workmanship. Electrical components (heater, controls) have separate manufacturer warranties. HUUM heaters come with their own 5-year warranty. We also provide ongoing support and can source replacement parts if needed in the future.

How do I get a detailed quote?

Contact us with details about your location, preferred options, and site conditions. We'll prepare a comprehensive quote including the sauna price, your selected customisations, delivery costs, and optional installation services. Our team is happy to arrange a site visit for more complex installations. Call us on 0330 043 0870 or email info@heracleswellness.co.uk

What type of roof does the Viva 120 have?

The Viva 120 features an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) roof – a durable synthetic rubber membrane widely used on flat and low-slope roofs. EPDM is known for exceptional waterproofing, UV and ozone resistance, flexibility in cold temperatures, and a long lifespan, making it ideal for year-round outdoor use in British weather conditions.

Does installation include the electrical connection?

No. Our installation team can assemble the sauna, but the heater and any other electrical components must still be connected by a qualified electrician.

You will need a suitable electrical supply and, at minimum, an isolator switch. Full details are provided in the Electrical Supply section on the product page.

Can any qualified electrician connect the sauna, and do you provide guidance?

Yes. Any qualified electrician should be able to connect the sauna, provided they follow the electrical requirements listed in the Electrical Supply section of the product page.

After you place your order, we also send further information that you can pass on to your electrician.

Can you recommend an electrician for the final connection?

In some cases, we may be able to share details of electricians who have connected saunas for previous customers.

Availability will depend on your location, and you are also welcome to use your own qualified electrician.

How long does professional assembly take?

Assembly time depends on the model, access, and site conditions. Many outdoor saunas can be assembled in around one day, while larger or more complex models may take longer.

We confirm the expected installation time as part of your installation quote.

Is the Heracles installation team experienced with this model?

Yes. Our installation team uses specialist carpenters and installers who are experienced in assembling outdoor saunas, which is one of the reasons many customers prefer professional installation.

Do you carry out site visits before installation?

No, we do not usually carry out site visits before installation.

In most cases, customers can send us photos, measurements, site plans, and access details, and we can advise whether the proposed location looks suitable.

This is normally enough for us to highlight any obvious issues with access, base preparation, or positioning before the installation goes ahead.

Why has my sauna door gone out of alignment over time?

In outdoor saunas, it is normal for the timber structure to respond to changes in temperature, humidity, and ambient conditions over time. This can occasionally cause minor movement in the door opening, which may affect how the door closes or sits within the frame.

For this reason, sauna door hinges are designed to be adjustable. Minor door or hinge alignment adjustments over time are normal and should be carried out in line with the manual as part of routine ownership maintenance, rather than being treated as a product fault.

Can I see one of your saunas in person before ordering?

We do not currently have a full showroom, but many of our existing customers are happy to show their sauna to prospective buyers.

If you would like to see one in person, please contact us and we can try to arrange a viewing with a customer in or near your area.

Do outdoor saunas need regular maintenance?

Yes. Outdoor saunas are not maintenance-free.

As a minimum, owners should expect to inspect and re-treat exposed timber at least every 12 months, or sooner if the manufacturer manual and local conditions require it.

You should also expect to make minor door or hinge adjustments over time in line with the manual, as timber structures naturally move slightly with changes in temperature and humidity.
