Electrical Supply - IMPORTANT - Please Read Before Ordering

Electrical Installation – Important Information

If you hire our installation team to build your sauna, please note that internal electrical wiring is not included and must be completed by a certified electrician.

Our installation team will:

  • Mount the sauna heater to the wall (where applicable)
  • Attach the LED light strips to the benches

However, the following must be completed by a qualified electrician:

  • Final wiring and connection of the heater
  • Final wiring of the LED lighting
  • Installation and wiring of external control panels, door sensor, thermostat, and any other electrical components (not applicable for manually controlled heaters such as the Harvia Vega BC60).

Electrical Supply Requirements

A sauna heater typically requires a dedicated electrical supply, similar to those used for electric showers or cookers.

Most domestic sauna heaters in the UK operate on a single-phase 230V supply. The current draw can be calculated using the following formula:

Watts ÷ Volts = Amps

Example:

6kW (6000W) ÷ 230V = approximately 26 Amps

Below is a general guide for domestic sauna heaters:

Heater Power - Current Draw - Suggested Cable Size (Single-Phase)

2.3 kW - 10 Amps - 1.5 mm²

3.0 kW - 13 Amps - 2.5 mm²

3.6 kW - 15 Amps - 2.5 mm²

4.5 kW - 19 Amps - 2.5–4.0 mm²

6.0 kW - 26 Amps - 4.0 mm²

8.0 kW - 35 Amps - 6.0 mm²

9.0 kW - 40 Amps - 6.0 mm² (or higher, depending on cable run)
Cable size depends on cable length, installation method, and other on-site factors. Always defer to your electrician’s judgment.

We strongly advise that installation is carried out by a fully qualified electrician, and that all work complies with current Government regulations and wiring standards (e.g., BS 7671 in the UK).

Sauna Heater Manuals

For exact electrical requirements of each heater please refer to the installation manuals below. If you provide these to your electrician, they should be able to advise you of the necessary wiring.

Delivery & Installation

Delivery pricing and regions

Delivery is included in the product price for eligible sauna orders to mainland England and Wales, excluding the Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly.

Mainland Scotland delivery supplements of £399 or £749 including VAT apply by postcode and are shown at checkout.

Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scottish islands, BFPO, Europe and every other international or offshore destination require an individual quotation before ordering.

Eligible Scottish customers can select free collection from our private Widnes warehouse. Collection is by appointment and may be made personally or by a nominated carrier.

Saunasell saunas are delivered in a pallet by default, and come with detailed installation instructions. You can view these instructions here.

Delivery Information

Delivery pricing depends on the destination, as explained above. Because our saunas are large and heavy (typically around one tonne), the exact unloading process depends on whether you choose a flat pack kit or a fully assembled sauna.

Flat Pack / DIY Assemblies

Flat pack saunas are delivered on a pallet. We will unload the pallet onto your driveway using a forklift or HIAB truck, depending on site access. This service is included in the delivery price.

From there, the sauna components can be carried to the installation location and assembled.

Factory-Assembled Saunas

If you choose to have your sauna built in the factory and delivered fully assembled, delivery to your address is included, but unloading is not.

Fully assembled saunas are very heavy and typically require a forklift or crane to lift them from the truck and position them in place. You arrange this yourself with a local crane or forklift company; we don't quote for or organise it. The sauna is not insured during unloading, so whoever lifts it needs to know exactly what they're doing. We can give you the assembled size and weight for the crane company. In our experience, a flat pack built on site is usually easier, quicker and less stressful, with no crane to pay for and far less risk of damage.

Warranty

At Heracles Wellness, we are confident in the quality of the Leil® products we offer. That’s why we provide a warranty on all Leil® products, with the warranty period depending on who carries out the installation:

• 24 months when the product is installed by the Heracles Wellness Install Team

• 12 months when the product is installed by the client’s own carpenter or installer

Full warranty terms can be found in the user manuals, but the main points are below:

• The warranty covers material and manufacturing defects from the date of delivery.

• The warranty applies only where the product has been used and maintained in accordance with the relevant user manuals.

• Warranty periods may differ for products mounted on trailers and for commercial-use products.

• The warranty does not cover natural characteristics of wood, including discolouration, dimensional changes, or cracking caused by fluctuating or excessive humidity.

• The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or damage caused by improper installation, misuse, or incorrect storage.

• Weather-related damage, including damage caused by thunder, is not covered.

• Damage resulting from incorrect installation by the client or their chosen installer is excluded from cover.

• The warranty will be void if unauthorised repairs or modifications are carried out, or if the product is used for anything other than its intended purpose.

• To make a warranty claim, any defect must be reported to the seller within 7 days of discovery.

For any warranty-related queries or to submit a claim, please contact us at info@heracleswellness.co.uk.

Return and Refunds

Made to order. This product is built to your specification, so we cannot accept returns or cancellations for a change of mind once production has started. Your legal rights are not affected: if it is faulty, damaged or not as described, we will repair, replace or refund it, and it is covered by its warranty. Please check size, access, base and electrical requirements before ordering; we are happy to help. Full terms: Returns policy.

Maintenance

Leil® Patio XXS 3 Person Outdoor Sauna is designed for outdoor use, but it is not maintenance-free. A small amount of regular care will help protect the timber, keep the sauna clean, and prevent avoidable issues over time.

After each use

• Wipe down wet benches, backrests, floors and high-contact areas.

• Leave the door and vents open until the interior has dried properly.

• Do not leave wet towels or accessories inside the sauna.

Cleaning

• Clean periodically with warm water, a soft cloth or brush, and a mild sauna-safe cleaner.

• Avoid harsh household chemicals, bleach, ammonia, abrasive cleaners, or normal interior varnishes.

Benches and backrests

• Sit on towels during use to reduce sweat staining.

• If bench timber becomes dry or marked, it can be lightly cleaned, gently sanded if needed, and treated with a sauna-suitable bench protection product where appropriate.

Doors, hinges and timber movement

• Outdoor timber naturally expands and contracts with heat, humidity and weather.

• Minor door or hinge adjustments may occasionally be required. This is normal routine maintenance rather than a product fault.

Heater stones

• Inspect sauna stones regularly, especially with frequent use.

• Replace stones if they become cracked, crumbly, heavily discoloured, or start breaking down.

• Stack stones loosely enough to allow airflow around the heating elements. Only use proper sauna stones, not garden or beach stones.

Exterior, roof and exposed locations

• Check the exterior, roof, fixings, hinges, vents and drainage periodically, especially after storms or long wet periods.

• Coastal, shaded, very exposed, or high-rainfall locations may need more frequent maintenance.

• In coastal or sea-air locations, exposed metal parts such as hinges, fixings and brackets should be checked more often and given extra corrosion protection where appropriate, such as WD-40 or a suitable zinc-based protective spray.

• In windy or exposed locations, check that any parts vulnerable to wind lift or movement are properly secured. This can include roof shingles, trims, covers and lightweight external fittings. If needed, use additional suitable fixings, adhesive, or restraints in line with the manufacturer’s guidance.

Manuals

• Always follow the specific manual supplied with your sauna and heater. If the manual gives different maintenance instructions, the manufacturer’s manual should take priority.

Patio paint and timber treatment

The black features are supplied pre-painted black, but the exposed natural timber is not painted or treated. This is intentional, so you can choose the final colour or finish that best suits your garden.

• Paint/treatment materials are not included unless specifically stated on your order.

• Installation does not include painting unless this has been separately agreed.

Recommended treatments

Interior surfaces, window frames and door frames: Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish (Saunasuoja). Alternative: Tikkurila Supi Sauna Wax for a more natural tinted or waxed finish.

Benches and backrests: Tikkurila Supi Laudesuoja (Bench Protection).

Exterior cladding and panels: Tikkurila Valtti Plus Kesto or Tikkurila Valtti Plus Color.

Treatment schedule

• Interior treatments: usually every 12 months or as needed.

• Bench protection: 1–2 times per year depending on use.

• Exterior treatments: every 2–3 years depending on exposure.

The sauna itself is 2.04 m wide, 1.87 m deep and 2.41 m high. Leave a gap around it so you can look after it:

  • Behind and each side: about 50 cmEnough to stand in, so you can re-coat the outside (we suggest once a year) and reach the isolator and control box.
  • Against a wall or fence? That's fine. You just won't be able to paint that side, and it will be sheltered from the weather anyway. Ask your electrician to put the isolator on a side you can reach.
  • In front: about 90 cmThe glass door opens outward, and you want a clear, safe step in and out.
  • Wood-burning stove? The chimney needs safe distances to trees, fences and buildings. We'll check them with you against the stove manual.
  • BaseLevel, and strong enough for about 1.0 tonnes: the sauna (650 kg), the heater and stones and up to 240 kg of people. See “What base do I need?” in the FAQs.

Tight corner or close to a fence? Call us on 0330 043 0870 with a photo of the spot and we'll tell you if it works.

Leil® Patio XXS 3 Person Outdoor Sauna - FAQ's

When will I receive my order?

The estimated delivery window is currently ….

This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date. The timing can vary depending on production schedules, dispatch arrangements or other unforeseen delays. If you need the product by a particular date, please call us before placing your order so we can check the current schedule with you.

Can I see one before I buy?

Yes. Through our Sauna Viewing Network, Heracles customers show their saunas to people who live nearby. Enter your postcode and the model you're interested in, and you can message an owner privately through our app. Your details are only shared if you choose.

If nobody near you has this exact model, the app suggests similar models in the same range.

Find a sauna near you

Does this sauna include a heater?

No. The price shown is for the sauna without a heater. Choose your heater in "Design your sauna" on this page; the price updates as you choose.

Final wiring must be completed by a qualified electrician; electrical connection is not included with sauna assembly.

How much does it cost to get it assembled by the Heracles team?

Assembly for this model starts at £1,500 + VAT. The final cost depends on your location, as prices increase the further our team travels from London. A team of three carpenters will usually build it in one full day.

Use the Request an Installation Quote link under Add to Cart and complete the form with your postcode, access and site details. We will confirm the exact installation price from that information. Installation is invoiced separately and typically arranged closer to the delivery date. You can use a local carpenter, but our team has extensive experience assembling this model.

What paint or treatment should I use on my outdoor sauna?

If your sauna has exposed or untreated exterior timber, use a breathable, UV-resistant and water-resistant exterior wood treatment. We recommend Tikkurila Valtti Plus Kesto or Tikkurila Valtti Plus Color. If you prefer a clear, natural finish, Osmo UV Protection Oil is a good option.

Apply the treatment after assembly and before regular use, then inspect the timber annually and re-treat it as required for the product and your site’s exposure.

For sauna-room walls, window frames and door frames, use Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish or Tikkurila Supi Sauna Wax. For benches and backrests, use Tikkurila Supi Laudesuoja Bench Protection. Never use ordinary exterior paint, varnish or household wood treatments inside the heated sauna room.

If your sauna has factory-finished or specialist cladding, follow the supplied manual and do not overcoat it unless the manufacturer confirms the product is suitable.

These recommendations are general guidance. Check both the sauna manufacturer’s manual and the treatment manufacturer’s instructions, and satisfy yourself that the product is suitable for the timber and any existing finish before applying it. If you are unsure about a colour, request samples from the manufacturer or retailer and test one on a spare timber offcut or a small, inconspicuous area first.

How much treatment should I buy for the Leil Patio XXS?

Buy one 2.7-litre tin (2.7 litres total) of Tikkurila Supi Sauna Finish for the sauna-room walls and ceiling, and one 1-litre tin (1 litre total) of Tikkurila Supi Laudesuoja for the benches and backrests. For untreated exterior timber, buy either two 2.7-litre tins (5.4 litres total) of Tikkurila Valtti Plus Kesto or three 0.75-litre tins (2.25 litres total) of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra for the specified two-coat systems.

The buying calculation uses 16.65 m² interior requiring 2.39 litres, and 3.26 m² of bench timber requiring 0.47 litres, with 15.92 m² outside requiring 4.58 litres of Valtti or 2.03 litres of Osmo. It uses the lower published coverage rate and one coat inside, two coats on untreated exterior timber, with a 15% allowance. Glass, roof shingles or membranes, the underside and confirmed factory-painted trim are excluded.

These are conservative buying allowances. Follow the current label and technical sheet for the product you choose; if its coverage or coat count differs, use those figures instead.

Are the Patio sauna windows and door double glazed?

The windows are double glazed. The sauna door is different: it uses 8mm tempered single glazing, so the door itself is not double glazed. This is the standard glazing specification across the Patio range.

How long does it take to get hot?

Typically, it takes around 30-35 minutes to reach 80°C. However, this can vary depending on factors such as the outside temperature, wind conditions, ventilation settings, and the intensity level you choose. Most customers report their sauna reaches the desired temperature within 20-30 minute.

What base do I need for the Patio XXS?

The Patio XXS should be installed on a solid, level, well-drained base that is at least the full footprint of the sauna: 2040 mm x 1870 mm. In practice, we would recommend allowing a little extra tolerance around this footprint during planning and construction so the base is fully supportive and easier to work with during installation.

The sauna itself weighs approximately 650 kg. For base planning, we would suggest allowing around 100 kg per person for up to 3 users, giving a sensible fully loaded working estimate of around 950 kg in total.

Suitable base options can include a concrete pad, paving, tiles, or structurally suitable decking, provided the surface is flat, stable, and able to support the load without movement. We also recommend ensuring good drainage so water does not collect around the base of the sauna.

The base should also be positioned far enough away from any walls, fences, or other obstructions to allow access for future wood treatment and maintenance, and to ensure the fuse box can still be accessed when needed.

How long will it take to assemble my Patio XXS?

If you are handy with tools and have someone helping you, it could be done in a couple of days. However, most do it in a week or so. Our install team will do it in one day.

Do I need a 3 phase supply?

No, however, you must get a qualified electrician to connect your heater to your power supply. You will need an isolator as a minimum.

Can I see one of your saunas in person before ordering?

We do not currently have a full showroom, but many of our existing customers are happy to show their sauna to prospective buyers.

If you would like to see one in person, please contact us and we can try to arrange a viewing with a customer in or near your area.

What does the WiFi heater allow me to do?

You can control the sauna from anywhere via the Huum smartphone app, as long as your heater is connected to your home WiFi and your phone has internet.

Does the WiFi control work on all networks?

The WiFi controller only supports 2.4GHz networks. Make sure your router can transmit this frequency.

What electrical setup is required?

The sauna requires a qualified electrician to install. Wiring details are provided in the manuals under the “Electrical Supply” section.

Does installation include the electrical connection?

No. Our installation team can assemble the sauna, but the heater and any other electrical components must still be connected by a qualified electrician.

You will need a suitable electrical supply and, at minimum, an isolator switch. Full details are provided in the Electrical Supply section on the product page.

Can any qualified electrician connect the sauna, and do you provide guidance?

Yes. Any qualified electrician should be able to connect the sauna, provided they follow the electrical requirements listed in the Electrical Supply section of the product page.

After you place your order, we also send further information that you can pass on to your electrician.

Can you recommend an electrician for the final connection?

In some cases, we may be able to share details of electricians who have connected saunas for previous customers.

Availability will depend on your location, and you are also welcome to use your own qualified electrician.

How long does professional assembly take?

Assembly time depends on the model, access and site conditions. Many outdoor saunas can be assembled in around one day, while larger or more complex models may take longer.

Use the Request an Installation Quote link under Add to Cart and complete the form. We will confirm the expected installation time with your quote.

Is the Heracles installation team experienced with this model?

Yes. Our installation team uses specialist carpenters and installers who are experienced in assembling outdoor saunas, which is one of the reasons many customers prefer professional installation.

Do you carry out site visits before installation?

No. We do not carry out site visits.

To request an installation quote, use the Request an Installation Quote link under Add to Cart and complete the form with photos, measurements, site plans, access details and the proposed sauna location. Our installation team will use that information to assess access, base preparation and positioning, and flag any obvious issues before installation.

Why has my sauna door gone out of alignment over time?

In outdoor saunas, it is normal for the timber structure to respond to changes in temperature, humidity, and ambient conditions over time. This can occasionally cause minor movement in the door opening, which may affect how the door closes or sits within the frame.

For this reason, sauna door hinges are designed to be adjustable. Minor door or hinge alignment adjustments over time are normal and should be carried out in line with the manual as part of routine ownership maintenance, rather than being treated as a product fault.

Do outdoor saunas need regular maintenance?

Yes. Outdoor saunas are not maintenance-free.

As a minimum, owners should expect to inspect and re-treat exposed timber at least every 12 months, or sooner if the manufacturer manual and local conditions require it.

You should also expect to make minor door or hinge adjustments over time in line with the manual, as timber structures naturally move slightly with changes in temperature and humidity.

In coastal or sea-air environments, exposed metal parts should be checked more regularly and protected with a rust-proof treatment such as WD-40 or another suitable anti-corrosion product.

Sauna heaters also require maintenance in line with the manufacturer manual. This normally includes periodically checking, washing, and restacking the stones, and in the longer term electric heater elements may need replacing if they wear out.

We do not currently offer a formal maintenance programme.

Can this sauna be used commercially?

Yes. Our traditional saunas are suitable for commercial use, and we already supply many commercial customers.

Commercial use requires a regular maintenance regime, as it would with any sauna. This includes cleaning the sauna, inspecting and maintaining the heater stones, and re-treating or painting the timber when required. The frequency will depend on usage, location and the manufacturer's maintenance instructions.
